The Route is a documentary video that examies modern geographical racial segregation in a metropolitan city. Due to differing economic and life patterns, a clear racial divide can be easily observed on the platform of the Chinatown metro station in the city centre of Chicago, United States. There is a rumour that the relocation of these Chinese communities to their current location was intended to separate the other ethnic groups. Starting from the Chinatown station, the 2-channel video observes the opposite directional paths towards the north and south before passengers begin their daily economic activities. The left screen documents the passengers three stations away towards the south, while the right screen shows three stations towards the north, then back to the Chinatown station. The following graph indicates the geographical movements of the camera:
